Most Common Kinds of Birds in Florida

Numerous bird species are drawn to Florida by its varied landscapes and warm temperature. Some species might become an issue because of their behaviors and presence in urban areas, while others are valued for their beauty and ecological significance. These birds often cause disruptions, harm property, and alter local ecosystems. We will examine some of the most prevalent birds that are regarded as pests in Florida in this blog.

1. The European Starling

European starlings are among the most often seen and problematic birds in Florida. Originally imported to the United States in the 1800s, starlings are now somewhat widespread throughout the country. Large flocks of these birds are well-known for badly destroying crops, trees, even buildings. Another problem is their droppings potentially damaging buildings and vehicles. Extreme flexibility makes European starlings often take nesting sites other birds would use.

2. Sparrow’s House

Another bird often seen as a nuisance in Florida is the house sparrow. Originally from Europe, these little birds have become somewhat common all throughout the state. House sparrows commonly construct their nests in vents, chimneys, and other structures around homes and businesses. Their nests may restrict airways, which calls for costly repairs. Additionally, house sparrows threaten local biodiversity by competing with other bird species for food and refuge.

3. The Rock Pigeon

In Florida’s cities, the rock pigeon, often known as the city pigeon, is commonly seen. These birds have a reputation for causing chaos with their droppings, which may harm monuments and structures. They often roost on structures and leave droppings in public areas. Because pigeon droppings may spread illnesses like histoplasmosis and cryptococcosis, their presence can potentially pose health problems. The fact that these birds often congregate in big flocks adds to their image as a nuisance.

4. Brown-headed Cowbird

Another species that is often seen in Florida is the brown-headed cowbird. The parasitic nature of these birds is well recognized. Other birds nurture the cowbird chicks at the cost of their own nests, where they deposit their eggs. The cowbird is an issue for bird conservation because it interferes with the breeding cycles of native bird species. Because their eating habits may impede agricultural operations, they may also be an issue for livestock owners.

5. Grackles

In Florida, grackles are often seen, particularly in cities and close to food sources. big flocks of these colorful, big birds may pose issues for both residents and businesses. Because of their aggressive nature, grackles will fight with other birds for food. Their booming cries, which may be annoying in residential areas, are another of their well-known traits. They are a popular nuisance in agricultural regions since their droppings may cause a mess and possibly harm crops.

It’s critical to respond when certain bird species start to cause issues. While some may try to manage the matter using do-it-yourself techniques, many property owners rely on expert bird removal to deal with the problem successfully. Professional bird removal services can guarantee that birds aren’t generating long-term issues and help stop more damage.

Premier Pest & Wildlife went above and beyond premier service to remove an unwanted bat from my home. Wes stayed in touch updating on arrival time which was a nice touch. Once he arrived, the removal was quickly completed and surfaces were cleaned. The bat was humanely removed from the premises. Nice to know quality businesses still exist. Would definitely recommend this business in Gainesville!
Appreciate the quick call back. No one seems to ever want to call customers back. We needed work done on our rental, Wes was easy to work with and took care of things quickly.
